Saturday Stalker - Etsy Pantone

I am not quite at the point where I should be turned in to the television show, "How Do I Look?" but don't ask my daughter if she agrees with me. I do not usually keep up with the "it" colors in fashion because I like what I like and that is what I will wear. But just for curiosity's sake, have you ever wondered who determines "the colors" for the season? I have never taken the time to investigate the answer to that question until today...

Pantone LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of X-Rite, Incorporated, is the world-renowned authority on color. For more than 45 years, Pantone has been inspiring design professionals with products, services and leading technology for the colorful exploration and expression of creativity.

In 1963, Lawrence Herbert, Pantone's founder, created an innovative system for identifying, matching and communicating colors to solve the problems associated with producing accurate color matches in the graphic arts community. His insight that the spectrum is seen and interpreted differently by each individual led to the innovation of the PANTONE® MATCHING SYSTEM®, a book of standardized color in fan format.

Pantone has since expanded its color matching system concept to other color-critical industries, including digital technology, fashion, home, plastics, architecture and contract interiors, and paint.

The Fall 2011 colors for men and women are actually quite rich and being touted as "Sensible and Spirited" with "sepia tones of old Hollywood, Chinese opera, cityscapes and countryside" and there is not much variation between the two genders...

This weekend the Saturday Stalker went strolling through the homemade items of Etsy vendors where I am always amazed at the abundance of talented people. I searched for items with the new Fall 2011 shades and obviously did not have any trouble finding products.

My favorite color for Fall 2011 is the cadet blue with cedar coming in second.

So what did you think about all the new colors and which are your favorites?

One of my favorite places to go is Cary Street, Richmond, Virginia. It is lined with little shops that sell everything from books and furniture to prom dresses. If you keep driving in one direction, it takes you to Virginia Commonwealth University and the other direction takes you through historic and older homes that are just gorgeous.

Cary Street is rather straight as is most of the surrounding streets.

It might be easier to see with this map. Obviously it runs pretty close to the James River which is a beautiful sight all by itself.

So from the humble beginnings of Cary Street to the present day excitement around the city of Richmond, we are going to explore, visit and enjoy a wonderful adventure in stalking.

Before the Saturday Stalker begins stalking the plethora of sights and stores in Richmond and the rest of Virginia from mountains to beaches, I thought a rewind of the blogs we've already visited would be fun especially if you missed one.
