About Me...

Where do I begin...

This year I decided to start a blog because it has been so long since I've had the opportunity to express myself using the "written word." I have an insatiable appetite for "words" which compels me to voraciously read books. "English" was always my favorite subject and vocabulary tests were exciting. My writing still feels a bit stiff and rusty, but with time the "riter" in me will bloom again...hopefully with gardenia blossoms.

Which leads me to the fact that I am a bit of a quirky nerd. Not the kind of nerd that wears thick glasses with tape across the nose, but inside I'm sure that is exactly how I appear. I'm way too vain to look that nerdy on the outside. (smile)

I'm a very compassionate person and can patiently listen for as long as I'm needed. I find it rewarding to help others. I'm not too proud to say it, but to be completely fulfilled, I need to be needed.

I'm a "people watcher." You know the type...I sit in the mall on the benches, buy nothing and just watch people walk past me consumed in their own world. I find people fascinating!

I have a fantastic job with super smart people who are so very nice! I'm still blown away by their kindness. I know they all think I'm a little crazy since I sit quietly all day staring at my computer working with spreadsheets and numbers. The crazy part is that I get so excited about it day after day! I'm sure Don and Pat are rolling their eyes, but Julia and Kathy understand. You do don't you? (laughing)

I love my family!!!

I have the most fantastic and beautiful mother ever put on the Earth! No, I'm not trying to win brownie points. I only have one sister and we share Mom without any jealousy. At least I'm not jealous. Audrey, get off the phone! You've talked to Mom long enough. Uh, no really, we are not jealous.

My sister is younger than I am and that made her "my" baby. I lugged her around everywhere! I was always envious of her (I hope she didn't just faint) because she was a tiny girl (size zero should be outlawed) with a long string of boyfriends and guys that wanted to be her boyfriend. I was the complete opposite. Not only guys, but most girls didn't even know I existed...I was invisible and at the time preferred it that way. Hard to believe that I turned out the way I am today. Maybe I was abducted by aliens. (laughing)

Oh how I have always wanted a baby! It took me a long, long time, but my dream came true and sixteen years ago I had Alyssa. She was everything I dreamed of and more. Alyssa has everything going for her...beauty, brains and a heart of gold. Words can not express my thankfulness at having the opportunity to be her mother.

My niece, Brittany, is my fellow redhead! However, since she is a beautician I never know what color she is going to gunk on her head to cover all those glorious red locks! She is still young. Maybe she will grow out of the desire to have funky colors on top her head. (big smile)

I also have a very interesting husband (the last husband for sure) and we have been married for almost four years. Tom (that's my husband's name) would tell you that we are in our fifth year going on our sixth year of marriage, but he is a psycho-therapist...Do you get it? I know...I have a VERY dry, weird sense of humor. Anyway, he has turned out to be a very sweet husband and I think I'll keep him. (wink, wink)

I am an eclectic mixture of things that shouldn't and usually do not go together which I think makes me...ME! Well, duh!

I like to color with crayons inside the lines,

hold babies that smell like lotion and powder,

cook for lots of people,

sit alone in the quiet,

feel the sunshine warming my face,

blast the music until the windows rattle,

shower until my skin wrinkles on the palms of my hands,

sew, crochet and embroider,

laugh loudly,

sing with Winnie The Pooh,

give and receive big hugs,

take pictures of everything,

smell chocolate and feel my mouth salivate,

cut and style my husband's hair,

read anything and write this blog.

I don't like mean people,

lying,

bugs,

stepping in dog poo,

watching my daughter go on dates (i'm only half serious, I think)

putting silverware away in those stupid dividers in the drawer,

getting car or air sick,

the wind blowing my hair when I'm trying to look "pretty"

and selfishness.

That's a whole lot more than I thought I would be able to write about me, me, me, so I'm feeling a little happy now. I actually sound interesting! (Paula's probably rolling her eyes now)

I think that just about covers it or uncovers it depending on your point of view. That made me think of a story I need to go write in my blog.

Happy reading!

I didn't know where to respond to your question about my chronic dry eyes but what they have told me to try over the counter is Omega 3 with fish Oil because (according to the eye doctor) the fatty acids in the fish oil is essential to produce a healthy tear film. They also told me the fatty accid helps with dry mouth as well, which I'm not worried about but it's good to know. The optometrist also told me Omega-3 doesn't need a prescription, suprpresses inflamation of the eye, and the fat in the Omega help your tear glands to eventually (through time) produce your own tear, reducing the need for eye drops or other items.

Now, don't do what my eye doctor told me to do. Maybe take your mother to her eye doctor and ask about this. They also gave me a coupon for a 90 gel pill bottle to buy at any Walgreens or grocery store. 90 Gel caps run around $20-$25, give or take, which is a lot better than what I paid for Restasis. I'm hoping this will work for me. I haven't bought them yet because stupid me is terribly so busy running the kids here and there and whatnot. Anyway, hope this helps.

Friends,
~Sarah
