It Is So Sexy - Ripe Plums Are Falling

I want you to feel the full impact of this poem written many, many years ago. Obviously, some things and concepts in life always remain true.

This poem, Ripe Plums Are Falling is about the passage of time, a woman's biological clock, her desire to have children and how it all comes down to finding a husband. Sounds familiar doesn't it?

Aging.

It doesn't matter what your station in life, the language you speak, where you live or who you are...time passes and brings about the natural consequences of aging.

Read the poem slowly.

With each ripe plum that falls, more time has passed and the woman's dreams remain unfulfilled. I think using the falling plums to show the progression of time is brilliant and sexy!

From the Shih Ching or Chinese Book of Songs

ripe plums are falling

now there are only five

may a fine lover come for me

while there is still time

ripe plums are falling

now there are only three

may a fine lover come for me

while there is still time

ripe plums are falling

i gather them in a shallow basket

may a fine lover come for me

tell me his name

Beautiful?

This poem is in one of my favorite movies of all time - Crossing Delancey
.

Listen to actor, Jeroen Krabbé, recite this short poem to actress, Amy Irving. She is totally mesmerized.

ripe plums are falling
now there are only five
may a fine lover come for me
while there is still time

ripe plums are falling
now there are only three
may a fine lover come for me
while there is still time

ripe plums are falling
i gather them in a shallow basket
may a fine lover come for me
tell me his name

It is a very sexy poem with words full of imagery and packed with meaning.

How do you feel about your ripe plums falling?

At 71, I no longer have plums, ripe or otherwise. Isn't that a bummer?
