Let me give you the definition of the word "fake" so that we are on the same page.
Fake as an adjective:So look at that gorgeous picture I created for this post. Do you think that is me, The Redhead Riter?
Having a false or misleading appearance; fraudulent.
Fake as a noun:
One that is not authentic or genuine; a sham.
Fake as an intransitive verb:
To engage in feigning, simulation, or other deceptive activity.
No?
Are you sure?
Well, who do you think is in the picture?
Oh! The Grinch?!
How can you tell it is the Grinch? I mean look at all that red hair and the big heart. The Grinch didn't have those things.
You think the Grinch is faking being The Redhead Riter?
Hmmm.....I think you are correct.
No one is The Redhead Riter except for The Redhead Riter. It is the same with you. No one else is exactly like you and no one can fake being you. I'm an original and so are you.
HOWEVER.........
There have been times that I've faked being me. Here's a few examples:
I was sad that I couldn't go on a field trip with Alyssa in elementary school because I had to work, so all day long I faked my smile. I had to fake it because that is what I constantly told the people who worked the front desk at my hotel. I can hear myself now, "The customers do not want to see the Grinch behind the desk when they are tired and want to check in, so fake a smile and make them feel welcome even if you don't feel it."
Then there were the multiple Sunday's when I went to church and appeared happy even though I knew God had me blacklisted. I was really his redheaded stepchild and that is why my life was in crumbles while everyone else lived in Heaven on earth.
Actually, I'm not good at faking it which is apparent on my blog. As I've gotten older, I don't feel the need to fake anything really. I am who I am. People can love me, like me or hate me, but I'm still going to be just me.
I've also concluded that being just me is a good thing! I don't want to be anyone else. I may joke and say I wish I had such-and-such's boobs or such-and-such's singing ability, but if I had to give up one of my most favorite personal traits it wouldn't be worth the trade.
I must say that my attitude has come a long way. It took me a long time to become the person I am today. No one else on the whole planet is exactly like me. That's rather phenomenal if you really think about it!
My advice is that you don't fake being someone or something that you are not. That you don't try to keep up with the Jones so that you will have the appearance of having a lifestyle that you cannot afford. What you have and who you are is enough because you are enough.
Improve on who you are, so that you would be the person that you would choose to be your own best friend.
Be real.
Be you.
If you've been fake, stop faking it!
Life is so much nicer when your own personality is free to become the person you are meant to be. Yeah, that's deep, but if you want to laugh just look at that silly picture of the Grinch trying to be The Redhead Riter.
Nope. The Grinch can't be me and I can't be the Grinch.
I'm glad the Grinch didn't fake you out and that you knew me well enough to know a deceptive simulation when you saw him.
(wink)
instead of faking someone else’s."
